Cologne is the largest city in the German federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth-largest city in Germany.

Cologne is located on both sides of the Rhine River, less than eighty kilometres from Belgium. One big attraction is the famous Cologne Cathedral which seats the Catholic Archbishop of Cologne. The University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) is one of Europe’s oldest and largest universities.

Cologne is a major cultural centre for the Rhineland. The fact that it hosts more than thirty museums and hundreds of galleries supports this reputation. Exhibitions range from local ancient Roman archeological sites to contemporary graphics and sculpture. Major trade shows are the Art Cologne, imm Cologne, the Gamescom and the Photokina which are hosted the Cologne Trade Faire.
